Rolando Pisia, Founder of REKON Youth Foundation
Growing up, I understood how difficult it can be for young people to navigate the complexities of life—especially when faced with adversity. These experiences shaped my passion for empowering the next generation, and that passion led me to establish REKON Youth Foundation in 2019.
REKON began with a simple yet profound belief: that every young person deserves the opportunity to rise above their challenges, develop their skills, and discover their purpose. We see the immense potential in the youth of our community, and we are committed to helping them tap into that potential in ways that are both practical and transformative.
Over the years, we have witnessed the impact of this approach. Through our after-school community connection programs, we have engaged with over 18,000 youth, providing them with a safe space to learn, create, and grow. Whether it's music production, DJing, t-shirt printing, street art or leadership development, REKON offers a unique blend of creativity, culture, and skill-building that equips young people with tools they can carry forward into their future.
But beyond the skills, what truly drives us at REKON is the belief that every young person is capable of greatness. We see the spark of potential in their eyes, and we are here to fan that flame. Our programs are not just about teaching; they are about instilling confidence, fostering resilience, and building community. We strive to create an environment where every young person feels seen, heard, and valued for who they are and who they can become.
At REKON, we know that when young people are given the right support, they can overcome anything. They can rise above adversity, break through limitations, and create a future filled with purpose and possibility.
